View Chains of Custody/Requisition Forms
If chains of custody or requisition forms are attached to workorders,
samples, or patients, links appear in the Chain
of Custody columns. When a single chain is attached, the link displays the chain identifier. If more than one chain is attached, the link displays "View." When you submit an order to the lab, a chain of custody document automatically generates. You can view the chain from the detail page for the order.
Note: Because LabOnline is customizable based on laboratory needs, some of the options referenced in the steps and images below may not be available or may be named differently. Direct any questions to your laboratory.

To view a chain of custody/requisition form for a workorder, sample, or patient, complete these steps:
- Select Workorders, Samples, or Patients from the LabOnline main menu, depending on the type of item you want to view.

Use the Search Criteria and Client drop-down list to locate the item whose chain of custody you want to view.
If a single chain is attached, the chain identifier displays as a link in the Chain of Custody column. If more than one chain is attached, the link displays "View." - Click the link.
- The chain of custody opens in a separate tab in your browser.

To view a chain of custody/requisition form for an order, follow these steps:
- Select Orders from the LabOnline main menu, then select View Orders from the submenu.
- Use the Search field and quick filter buttons to locate the order whose chain of custody you want to view.

Click the link in the Chain of Custody column for that order.
The Order Tests details page opens. If a chain of custody has been generated for the order, a View document link appears in the header section of the page. - Click the link.
- The chain of custody opens in a separate tab in your browser.
